Washington Celebrates Senior Day With Big Win
The Washington boys basketball team celebrated their senior day with a big win Saturday afternoon, defeating rival Crisfield 86-28. The win improves the Jaguars to 13-5, while the loss drops the Crabbers to 3-16.
Washington jumped out to a quick lead led by their senior Marc Jones. He would come up with several steals to get out into the open court, finding Deshawn Parks for quick scores, or taking them in himself. Once he got rolling, Shakur Cottman found his rhythm and would help the Jags to a 26-9 lead after the first. Washington kept pressing in the second quarter, Jermir Jones got into the scoring act, driving to the cup as well as showing the touch from the outside. The lead would swell to 51-20 by halftime. Washington would begin to empty out the bench the second half, which allowed for senior Jamal Armstrong to come in, and he would steal the show. After connecting on a power move on the block, he would show the touch with a short jumper and then add another bucket on his way to 6 points. The Crabbers continued to battle, but just weren’t able to keep up with Washington’s physicality and pace of play.
Washington returns to action Monday when they host Easton, while Crisfield hits the court Monday when they travel to Cambridge SD.
