Venus and Mars Conjunction

Tonight, If you caught the sun setting, you could have seen Venus hanging around the moon especially since it is a clear night. Tomorrow night, February 21, you will be able to see Venus and Mars passing each other in the sky. Look towards the West and under the waxing crescent moon. The next time this will happen is October 5, 2017. These planets will also shine in front of the Pisces Constellation.

Another cool thing to check out is the dark side of the moon. The soft glow on the moon’s night side is called earth shine.  This appears to be twice-reflected sunlight. The Earth reflects sunlight back to the crescent moon, and the dark side of the moon, in turn, again reflects sunlight back to Earth.
