UPDATE: Trial continues for accused murderer Paul Tatem

Two big developments in day two of the trial of accused killer Paul Tatem. He has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges stemming from the murder of 72-year-old Donald Mariner last April.
Much of Tuesday’s proceedings focused on DNA, specifically female DNA that was found at the crime scene on various items. A forensic investigator who testified Tuesday said, that DNA has been identified as Paul Tatem’s girlfriend, Angel Brown.
In the trial, prosecutors have established Paul Tatem’s DNA outside of the home, but not inside.
The defense questioned the victim’s daughter, they asked if her father had any enemies, romantic entanglements, or if he ever brought prostitutes home. She said no.
Mariner’s roommate said otherwise. Prosecutors asked him whether Mariner brought home prostitutes and he said yes, regularly. Prosecutors also later called another witness to the stand, who claimed Tatem sold him a TV that matched one stolen from the scene.
Mariner’s daughter’s testimony was cut short Monday when a juror became sick. That juror did not return Tuesday, so an alternate stepped in.
The trial is is expected to continue Wednesday. If convicted, Tatem could face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
