UPDATE: Snow Emergency Plans in effect across Delmarva

Authorities around Delmarva are asking residents to stay home, and off the roadways if possible, as heavy snowfall is making for messy conditions.

In Delaware, DelDOT Officials say crews are out plowing, and have been treating roadways with salt. They are asking residents to leave early if you are headed to work this morning, and use caution on snowy roadways.

In Maryland, State Police at the Princess Anne and Berlin barracks have put Snow Emergency Plans into effect for their areas. This means that all vehicles on roadways must have snow chains or snow tires, on both wheels, and parking bans are in effect for county snow emergency routes. This plan is meant to keep roadways clear, while transportation crews work to remove snow. MSP Princess Anne says the emergency will be lifted at 12:30 PM on Thursday.

Easton Police say they have also instituted Snow Emergency Phase One, making chains or snow tires a requirement for driving in the area on Thursday. Police are reminding residents to use driveways when possible to make roadway clean up easier. When shoveling driveway, Police also are asking residents to avoid putting additional snow on roads.

Virginia State Police say they have been out in force throughout the night, and will continue to be available for assistance. They are asking drivers to delay travel, unless absolutely necessary.
