UPDATE: Garage fire in Cambridge, ruled accidental

Police assisted in the investigation into an accidental garage fire in Cambridge.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire started around 11:50 PM on Monday, inside of of a 20′ x 20′ wood framed garage on Peach Blossom Avenue. After the occupant discovered the flames, 20 firefighters responded from Rescue, East New Market, and Trappe, and had the blaze under control in a half hour.

No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated to total $10,000. Fire investigators say they, along with Cambridge Police, have found that the fire was accidental, and caused by the furnace that was used to heat the building.
