Update: Former Dover daycare owner arrested on sexual abuse charges

67- year-old William Semonavick Jr. has been charged on allegations of sexual abuse which apparently happened back in the late 90s.
We’re told two victims came forward in January saying they had been sexually abused while they were children attending the Village Kids Daycare Center in the late 1990’s.
Semonavick reportedly owned and operated the residential daycare.
One victim told investigators she was four years old when Semonavick apparently abused her, on at least three different occasions.
The second victim was six, and apparently had a similar experience to the first victim.
Corporal Gary Fournier with the Delaware State Police says, “In the time period that these offenses occurred, it fell in a different statue in our criminal law. He was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse comparative to today’s statue which would be a rape.”
Semonavick turned himself into detectives on Friday February 20, 2015 at Troop 3 where he was charged with three counts of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse 1st, two counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact 2nd, and Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. He was arraigned at JP2 and has since been released on $13,000.00 secured bond.
Village Kids Daycare is currently closed and records show it was licensed from 1995 until 2008. Due to the similar accusations made by the two alleged victims, investigators are now looking into the possibility of more victims.
