UPDATE: Ellendale man arrested after reportedly tying up elderly home invasion victim

State Police say they have arrested an Ellendale man, after they linked him to a Monday morning home invasion, during which an elderly woman was tied up and left behind.
Delaware State Police say it all happened around 3:00 AM on Monday, when 26-year-old Dustin Niebert went into the Melody Lane of a 91-year-old woman, who was sleeping inside. According to the report, Niebert tied up the woman, took some of her jewelry and cash, and then fled the home in the woman’s car. Police reportedly later found the vehicle abandoned nearby.
A family member of the victim wasn’t able to reach her by phone, and went to her home around 3:30 PM, where they found the elderly woman still tied up in her bedroom. She was rushed to a local hospital by EMS, where she was treated for apparent non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been released.
Police say after their initial release, they received several tips, leading them to Niebert, who was in Milford.
He was then taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with robbery 1st degree, home invasion, assault 2nd degree, two counts of theft where the victim is over the age of 62, and unlawful imprisonment. He was also apparently wanted by the Milford Police Department on a shoplifting warrant, along with a Kent County Superior Court capias, and was additionally charged for those. Niebert is now being held on $10,500 bond.
