Sussex Central Girls Coast Past Host Polytech
The Sussex Central girl’s basketball team traveled to Polytech Friday night, scoring early and often to coast to a 69-31 victory. The Golden Knights improve to 15-3, while the Panthers fall to 2-16.
Sussex Central jumped out early in this one, taking a 22-5 advantage over the Panthers through the first quarter. Polytech looked to get some scoring underway in the second quarter, but the Golden Knights defense was too tough, only allowing six points in the second quarter out of the Panthers. The third quarter saw the most points through eight minutes for Polytech, but it was the same for Sussex Central with a 30-11 difference through the quarter.
The Golden Knights were led by Emily Truitt and Taylor Pritchett with 19 points, apiece, as the two combined for the team’s five three-pointers. Polytech was paced by Fatima Edwards with 14 points.
Sussex Central continues its four-game road series at Dover on Tuesday at 7:15, while Polytech remains at home on Tuesday against Cape Henlopen at 6:00.
