Sex offender arrested again in Dover for sexual conduct against a child

A registered sex offender is back behind bars, after he reportedly sexual assaulted a young girl back in November.
Delaware State Police say in November 2014, a 9-year-old girl told her mother that 76-year-old Jim Hunter Jr. had sexually assaulted her while he was driving her and her brother to Maryland to visit a relative. The children’s mother had apparently trusted Hunter, to bring the kids to Maryland on Fridays, and home on Sundays.
Police say on November 11th, the girl told her mothers that she didn’t want to ride with Hunter because he would inappropriately touch her in the car.
On Tuesday, Hunter was arrested by Troopers on an out of state fugitive warrant from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan for a violation of probation. After his arrest, he was also charged for the November incident with unlawful sexual conduct against a child by a sex offender, unlawful sexual contact with a person less than 13-years of age, and sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust 2nd.
Hunter is now being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $40,000 cash bond, while awaiting extradition to Michigan. Police say Hunter is a medium risk tier 2 sex offender following a 1998 conviction of unlawful sexual contact 3rd and 1999 conviction of indecent exposure 1st. There is reportedly no familial relationship to the family.
