Old World Breads offers snow storm discount in Lewes

With many expecting to be snowed in tomorrow, grocery stores across Delmarva were packed today, as they tend to be. However, when one store had to cancel a delivery, they turned a negative into a positive for customers.
Keith Irwin, owner of Old World Breads in Lewes, Delaware, says the potential snow prevented them from traveling to Washington D.C. for a Farmer’s Market where they planned to unload a lot of inventory, leaving them with a ton of leftover products. For that reason, they offered a “buy one get one free” sale for people to stock up.
As of the early-afternoon, Irwin says about 100 customers came out.
“We just thought we’d stay ahead of the curve,” says Irwin. “Were probably going to be closed the next two days because of everything going on with the weather, we produce the night before for the following day so that shuts us down for two days, so hopefully today will be the big day.”
Old World Breads is normally closed on Monday. If they close tomorrow for the storm, Irwin says it will be the first time they’ve had to close this winter due to the weather.
