New bill proposes paid sick leave in Maryland

Maryland workers may not have to choose between their health and a smaller paycheck.
Supporters of a bill that would allow employees in Maryland to earn paid sick leave held a presentation at a press conference in Annapolis today. This news comes ahead of a hearing on the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act.
Supporters say healthy employees outweigh the cost to employers. In fact, research found that providing employees with an opportunity to earn paid sick leave would save Maryland businesses thirteen million dollars annually.
The bill would allow employees to earn up to seven days of paid sick leave.
