Maryland marijuana bill

At 12:01 a.m. Thursday, marijuana became legal in Washington, D.C., despite threats from House Republicans that the District would face legal action.

It won’t be sold legally, although that remains a possibility down the line.

It’s also a possibility in nearby Maryland, where a marijuana measure is on the table. The bill would allow for the taxed sale of marijuana for adults aged 21 and over, similar to the sale of alcohol.

The proposal is also very similar to existing laws in Colorado.

Adults would be able to buy marijuana and have up to an ounce in their possession. It would also let adults grow their own marijuana, up to six plants, but the harvest is forbidden from being sold in any marketplace, legal or not.
