Lady Hawks Use Big First Half Run To Crush Delaware State

The Lady Hawks of UMES delivered a blowout win on homecoming, destroying Delaware State 96-59, in front of a big crowd at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center Saturday afternoon.

UMES shot 60% (21-35) in the first half, and 54.9% for the game. After trailing by as many as 10, the Hawks reeled of a 19-0 run in the first half, giving them a lead they would never give away.

TeAmber Burke scored a game-high 22 points off the bench for the Lady Hawks, going 8-10 from the field. Point guard Jessica Long poured in 18 points, and dished out 11 assists in the win, while center Alexis Udoji was just one rebound away from another double double, registering 18 points and 9 boards. Tierra Hawkins scored a team-high 21 points for the Hornets in the loss.

UMES is back in action on on Monday, February 16th when they host Howard, while Delaware State hosts Coppin State on the same night.
