Lady Hawks Sky Past Eagles

The UMES women’s basketball improved to .500 in the MEAC and 7-11 overall, defeating Coppin State 66-58 Saturday afternoon at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.

UMES rolled into the half with a 31-28 lead after the first half, and outscored the Eagles 35-30 in the final twenty minutes to pick up  the win. The Hawks were led by Jessica Long’s game-high 17 points, Mo Subritzky’s 12, and 8 points and 10 boards from forward/center Alexis Udoji. For CSU, Genesis Lucas’ 12 points was the team-high.

The women’s team is back in action on Monday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
