Indians Battle Out Free-Throw Fest Over Blue Raiders

The Indian River High School boy’s basketball team downed Woodbridge Monday on senior night, 67-59, in a game that saw the teams combine for 83 free-throw attempts. The Indians improve to 9-10 for the season, while the Blue Raiders fall to 9-9.

Woodbridge grabbed the early lead through the first quarter, 9-6, but Indian River would find its shot in the second quarter to take a 33-29 into the break although the Blue Raiders’ Randy Dupont cashed in for nine points, including 7-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Even with multiple players in foul trouble entering into the second half, the Indians never surrendered the lead for the remainder of the game, taking it 67-59.

Indian River was led by Kiante Sturgis and KeiJuan Major with 20 and 15 points, respectively, while Dupont paced Woodbridge with 20.

The Indians travel to Seaford on Tuesday for their next game at 6:15, while Woodbridge heads home for its next game against Laurel on Friday at 7:15.
