Harrington community comes together for fire victims

A blaze that left nine people without a home is sparking a fundraising effort in Harrington.

On Tuesdsay afternoon, Stone’s Tavern and Package, which also houses several apartments on the upper levels, went up in flames.

As a result, the town of Harrington is coming together to collect clothing and toiletry donations for the  residents who lost everything. So far, they have made sure the residents have a place to stay.

“There have been some businesses that have purchased another weeks stay for the people because the Red Cross only allows for three days,” says Tony Moyer, mayor of Harrington. “It’s a community, we pull together when there’s a problem.”

Donations will be accepted through next Friday at the Harrington Police Department between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM and at City Hall from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
