HALO to provide additional space amidst cold stretch

With cold weather expected in the forecast into next week, the HALO shelter is looking to do their part in helping as many individuals as possible.

HALO is looking to ensure that no one has to stay out in the streets during this stretch of cold weather.

Thursday night (2/12) through Monday night (2/16), HALO will be offering additional space for men, women, and children in need at their Center of Hope facility which is located right next to the new men’s shelter.

Celeste Savage, the executive director of HALO, tells 47 ABC how the cold is motivating HALO to provide additional space. Savage explained “Because of the temperatures going down as low as they’re going to go, we’re going to be opening additional spaces for beds for the men and women.” and “right now we need blankets and sheets and pillows.”

Savage also tells 47 ABC that HALO needs volunteers they say will be holding a volunteer training program on Sunday at 2 PM.

Regardless of how long the temporary expansion will last, the HALO shelters will be operating at normal hours and will not close.

For more information on this additional space and how to volunteer, you can reach HALO at 410-742-9356.
