HALO Declares a “Code Blue”

weather. it seems in the past few days — we seen all the dangers. from slippery roads and walkways. bursting pipes. to fire dangers. and now — one local shelter has now declared code blue. 47abc’s jobina fortson reports. track the shelter at halo ministries has entered what they’re calling code blue celeste savage, executive director of halo 09:55:59 with this cold artic air that’s been coming through, we’ve had to open our caf to allow more men to be able to come in than what we’re actually able to have over in the facility 09:56:09 track normally — halo accommodates 95 people overnight — because that’s what their facility can hold — 55 men and 40 women. but tuesday night — the day after the major snow fall — halo had one hundred and six people under their roof — which has forced them to put extra beds in their cafeteria. however– executive director celeste savage says they don’t mind the extra bodies. she’d much rather have a packed house — than the alternative — people sleeping outside… 09:57:12 they’re just not going to survive 09:57:13 track and the shelter has already dealt with one frightening experience this winter. 10:00:15 we did have a situation with one of the homeless guys, in a heavy severe wind storm, one of the main branches fell, and fell on his tent, he was in it and had a few bones broken and was burned 10:00:32 track savage says the shelter won’t force anyone to come to them– but she’s strongly advising that if you see someone outside who needs a place to stay — help them out — by showing them the way to halo. jobina fortson 47abc halo ministries tells 47 abc they will remain in code blue until the twenty first of this month. and– because of the high volume of occupants at their shelter — they’re running low on some items. we have a list of products they need — on our website. a cold
