Former CR Standout Bell Honored as Conference Player of the Week

Delaware State University forward Tyshawn Bell has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his excellent play last week.

Bell was named MEAC Men’s Basketball-Player-of-the-Week, for just the second time in his career. The award came after Bell tallied 42 points, including 10 three-point field goals, and 17 rebounds and going 8-8 from the free-throw line, guiding his Hornets to victories over Florida A&M and UMES last week.

Bell recorded his second career-double double with career-highs of 23 points, and 12 rebounds in the Florida A&M game, and 19 at UMES. Bell hit five three’s in each contest.

The Dover, DE native earned four varsity letters at Caesar Rodney High School, leading the Riders to a 27-3 overall record and state title game berth during his senior season. In his final season, Bell posted averages of 18.6 ppg, 14.3 rpg and 5 apg. He was named 2009-2010 All-State and All-Henlopen Conference first teams.
