Fire at Stone’s Tavern in Harrington, still under investigation

A fire at a local bar in Harrington has displaced building residents, while investigators continue to look into the cause.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire was reported just after 1:45 PM on Tuesday, at Stone’s Tavern & Package on Mechanic Street. The Harrington Fire Company responded, and reportedly found smoke coming from the 3 story building, and requested additional help from several neighboring fire companies.
Crews apparently had the flames under control around 3:40 PM. Officials say Deputy State Fire Marshals are apparently currently on scene investigating the cause of the blaze. There were reportedly nine people displaced from the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building, who are now being helped by the American Red Cross.
The business was apparently open when the fire started, but everyone was able to get out of the building safely. No injuries were reported. Damages have been estimated at $25,000.
