Feb. 6 – DSU Black History Month Events

Delaware State University will host the following events during the annual Black History Month in February. All events are free and open to the public, with the exception of the Feb. 23 event in which there is an admission charge:

Monday, February 9th
Rasheed Cromwell of the Harbor Institute will give a guest lecture on “Black Greek Letter Organizations and Their Role in Shaping African American History” at 7:30 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center (2nd floor parlors).

Wednesday, February 11th
The Universal African Dance Company of Camden New Jersey performance at 7:30 p.m., MLK Student Center lobby

Wednesday, Feb. 18th
Lecture presentation – Hans Reigle, associate professor and assistant director of the DSU Aviation Program, will give a presentation entitled “Delaware State University Aviation: Then and Now,” which will cover the history of aviation education and flight training at the institution dating back to the 1930s; at 7 p.m. in the Longwood Auditorium of the Bank of America Building.

Thursday, February 19th
DSU Founders Day Program in the Education and Humanities Theatre at 11 a.m.

Monday, February 23rd
Poetic Stage Play: “The Life and Times of the Miseducated Negro” by playwright Malik Amari, at 7 p.m. in the Education and Humanities Theatre. Admission cost: $10.

Tuesday, February 24th
Guest speaker Tommie Smith former U.S. Olympian and author of “Silent Gesture” will discuss the 1968 Olympics and the Black Power Movement in America, at 7 p.m. in the Education and Humanities Theatre
