Executive Director of Republican Party of VA Steps Down

Shaun Kenney, the executive director of the Republican Party of Virginia, is stepping down after less than a year on the job.

Kenney has announced that he will be leaving his post from the cash-strapped party by the end of February.

This news comes just weeks after John Whitbeck took over as the party’s chairman. Last month, the party reported being more than two- hundred thousand dollars in debt.

State republicans reportedly lost a major source of campaign revenue when former U.S. House Majority Leader Representative Eric Cantor lost in the GOP primary last summer.

Cantor plans to join Jeb Bush in Richmond to raise money for the Republic State Leadership Committee this upcoming Monday.
