Ex-VA Governor McDonnell’s sister speaks

Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is slated to serve a two-year prison sentence, and now his sister is speaking out. Maureen McDonnell, not to be confused with the ex-Governor’s wife Maureen, says she and her family have prayed for her brother since his corruption trial started.
McDonnell, a Republican, was convicted in September of accepting gifts and more than $165,000.00 in loans from local businesses, and using the power of the governor’s office to obtain it all. Originally, McDonnell was slated to spend 12 years in prison, but he was only sentenced to two. Maureen says she and her family were devastated with the judge’s ruling that Bob would spend any time in jail.
Bob McDonnell’s sentence starts on Feb. 9, 2015. McDonnell’s wife Maureen is set to be sentenced later this month.
