Delmarva Christian Hoists Trophy For First Time In School History

Blowing open the score in the first quarter, the Delmarva Christian girl’s basketball team coasted past Saints Peter and Paul, 61-42, to hoist the program’s first ESIAC Championship trophy Monday night. The Royals conclude the season with a 17-4 record.

Delmarva Christian didn’t waste any time in this game, jumping out to a 17-4 lead through the first quarter. The Royals’ defense almost held the Sabres to single digits by the half, outscoring them again 18-7 to take a 35-11 lead into the half.

Saints Peter and Paul found some life in the second half, slowly chipping away at Delmarva Christian’s lead, even outscoring the Royals 20-10 in the final eight minutes, but the spread was too much for the Sabres to overcome.

Royals’ Haley Timko led all scorers with 17 points, while Mackenzie Kinnikin chipped in for 11. Taylor Quade paced the Sabres with 14 points, including two three-pointers.
