DelDot continues to treat roads following harsh conditions

Following a dangerous day on the roads, DelDot is continuing to treat roads with crews attempting to clear up roadways in Kent and Sussex counties.

On Thursday in Sussex County, 51 accidents took place.

DelDOT Spokesperson Alastair Probert shed some light on the challenges as well as some future challenges for drivers.

Probert said “Currently our biggest challenges are the drifting caused by the winds and the extremely low temperatures.” and “right now all of our drainage structures are obstructed with snow and ice so I would fairly expect to see some ponding on the roads, some minor flooding from snow melting.”

Probert also tells 47 ABC that DelDot is now applying sand to the roads as opposed to salt to help increase tire traction.
