Del. police investigate 2 fatal crashes
Delaware State Police are investigating two fatal car wrecks that occurred in a five-hour span.
Police say the first wreck occurred just after 9 p.m. on Saturday. Police say a male pedestrian was trying to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate-95 just north of Delaware Avenue in Wilmington when he was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox. Police say the man then struck by three more vehicles before he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Roughly five hours later, just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a second fatal crash on Route 41 in Hockessin. Police say a Mercury Mountaineer struck a Honda Civic and careened into a concrete island, where the car turned over. The driver of the Mountaineer was pronounced dead on the scene.
