A facelift is coming to the Salisbury Marina

The Salisbury Marina may soon be getting a major facelift.

The city received a $50,000 grant from the State of Maryland Natural Resources Department to cut out boat slips. In it’s place, the city will be putting in a floating dock to launch canoes and kayaks.

It appears the city also has $40,000 left over from an old bond issuance from 2003 that will be used to clean up the marina’s signage, landscaping, and fences.

These improvements will be coupled with a million and a half dollar project to replace the Fitzwater Street pump station.

The pump station is currently underground and will be taken out completely and put on the marina property.

Salisbury City Council President Jake Day says, “When you’ve got a city and community asset like a marina, and you under utilize it, and don’t make it a kind of contributor to the economy and to the culture and to your community, you’re wasting tax payer dollars. I think we’re actually taking a step to make this a more positive influence in our community, and our economy, you can create another little engine.”
