2nd Half Surge Powers SU Past Mary Washington

The Salisbury University women’s basketball team used a second half surge to power past Mary Washington Saturday afternoon 65-54. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 20-1 on the year.

The teams would be in a battle and be dead locked at 28 headed into the locker rooms. But the Gulls came out on fire to open the second half. Sarah Seipp found her shooting touch, and would connect on two straight jumpers to open up a double digit lead.  Melanie Mocniak would then find the shooting touch, connecting on mid range jumper and scoring in the paint to help stretch the lead. The Eagles continued to pound the ball down low and kept the game close, but SU would pull away in the end. Anna Hackett would take a strong drive down the left side and score it off the glass for dagger.

Salisbury University returns to the court Wednesday when they travel to Wesley.
