Wolverines Men’s Basketball Drop A Pair In Pueto Rico

Wesley College’s men’s basketball team lost two consecutive games in the San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Pueto Rico. The Wolverines fell 96-75 to Benedictine, (Ill.) then were edged out by Edgewood 73-65.

Despite a career-high 27 points by AJ Tilghman against Benedictine, Wesley trailed the entire game, and trailed 49-17 at the half, and watched Benedictine shoot 61% as a team for the game.

Against Edgewood, Wesley led by nine points early in the first half, but the Eagles went on an 11-2 run to tie the game, then a 13-2 run over the 4:46 to take a 10 point lead into the half. (39-29)

Wesley went on an 8-0 run to open up the second half, cutting the deficit to just two. The game would stay within two possessions for the majority of the second half, with Edgewood pulling away in the last five minutes.

The Wolverines will host CAC rival Frostburg State on Saturday, January 3rd at 3 p.m.
