Wicomico County schools use Discovery Education’s Math Techbook

Twenty- four students from Wicomico County public schools and their teachers have been invited to participate in the national launch event for Discovery Education’s Math Techbook.

Nicholas Danz, a 6th grader at James M. Bennett Middle School says,”I like the play part because you choose a background and you do problems on it. You move ahead every time and if you get five right, you get a badge.”

The “techbook” series is an interactive digital textbook that fosters a deep understanding of math concepts, and how they relate to every day life.

Julie Owens, a 6th grade math teacher at James M. Bennett Middle School says,”They’re very motivated they’re remembering concepts, and when the concepts come back up they’re able to talk and collaborate, and talk about remembering when they saw that certain piece in the program.”

Thursday, those twenty- four students and their teachers will be traveling to Silver Spring, Maryland to present to their “techbook” techniques to a national audience of educators.
