Wicomico County heroin dealer convicted twice in one month

A Wicomico County drug dealer is awaiting sentencing, after he attempted to continue dealing drugs while incarcerated.
On January 15th, 32-year-old Antoine Belizaire, Jr., was convicted on possession with intent to distribute a large amount of heroin, conspiracy and related offenses. This followed a December 18, 2014, conviction, where a Wicomico County jury convicted Belizaire, of possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, being a felon in possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a regulated firearm during a drug trafficking offense along with numerous other related offenses.
It all started in April 2014, when Belizaire fled when law enforcement tried to take him in on an outstanding warrant. While fleeing, Belizaire threw a baseball hat, which had a large amount of heroin, as well as cocaine, marijuana, and a loaded semi-automatic handgun. The heroin had an apparent street value of $16,000.
While behind bars at the Wicomico County Detention Center, awaiting trial on those charges, Belizaire made numerous calls to his girlfriend, and her uncle, where he would speak in code. These calls included instructions for Belizaire’s girlfriend to get heroin from a home, and give it to her uncle, and how the uncle could then prepare the drug for sale. During this time, investigators continued looking into Belizaire, and ended up confronting his girlfriend, who then cooperated with authorities, and revealed where the heroin was. More than 300 grams of heroin, with a street value of $200,000 was found at her uncle’s home.
Belizaire has multiple prior felony drug and firearms convictions, and was on probation for possession with intent to distribute narcotics at the time of the April incident. He acted as his own attorney at both trials.
Sentencing has been deferred, pending a pre-sentencing investigation. He is facing 75 years with at least 20 years of that time being mandatory, non-parole eligible time for the first trial, and 60 years of potential incarceration with more mandatory time for the second. He is also facing 15 years for his violation of probation.
