Wesley men’s basketball pushes by Southern Virginia

The Wesley men’s basketball team hosted Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon and the Wolverines got to work right away.

Each team was playing fairly even, but it was Wesley men’s team that begin to pull the way with shooting by Wayne Lennon. He shot 3-3 from behind the arc to start out the game and gave his team a double-digit lead halfway through the first half. The Wolverines close out the first half strong taking a 40-27 lead heading into the second half.

The second half was much closer, in fact, Southern Virginia outscored Wesley 46-44, but there was a lot of action. Wesley managed to secure the win and push past Southern Virginia, 84-73.

Lennon led his team with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double double – coming up just behind him, Quincy Pettiford notched 15 points as well.

The Wolverines advance to 6-4 in the CAC and will travel to Virginia to play Marymount on Wednesday, January 28 at 8:00 pm.
