Washington Overcomes 18-Point Deficit To Defeat Queen Annes

In a battle until the final whistle, the Washington High School boy’s basketball team overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat Queen Annes High School, 76-74, on Tuesday night. The Jaguars improve to 6-3, while the Lions fall to 6-4.

Queen Anne’s caught an early lead and held onto it up until the final three minutes of the game, when Washington’s Jemir Jones cashed in on a three-pointer for the right wing to give the Jaguars a 79-69 lead. Down the stretch, Marc Jones found Montrez Oliver for the go-ahead layup with nine seconds left, before Jemir sealed up the game with a steal on the other end for the 76-74 victory.

Queen Anne’s Brendan Cavanaugh led all scorers with 34 points, including six three-pointers, while Tyler Poulson paced the Jaguars with 19 points.

Washington travels to Crisfield for its next game, while Queen Anne’s heads home for a match up against Kent Island. Both games are Thursday with a 6:30 p.m., tip.
