University of Delaware falls in conference opener

The University of Delaware opened up play in the Colonial Athletic Association at the Bob Carpenter Center against the Northeastern Huskies. The Blue Hens are the defending CAA champions, but have come out this season with a slow start after winning just their first game on Tuesday over St. Bonaventure.

The Hens headed into the locker rooms at halftime down by ten, 32-22 and opened up the second half with a 7-2 run to put themselves back within five, 34-29. However, that was the closest they would get for the remainder of the game.

Tonight, sophomore Maurice Jeffers led the Blue Hens with 11 points, while senior Kyle Anderson put up 10 points. This game, Anderson sunk two three-pointers to tie the UD career record for three-pointers of 228, which was last set by Mike Ames in 2000-2004.

On the other side of the ball, Northeastern’s Scott Eatherton tallied up 15 points, while T.J. Williams put up 12 points and 4 assists.

University of Delaware is defeated at home, but will resume play on Monday at Hofstra – the tip time is set for 7:00 pm.
