UMES men’s basketball wins second straight on Saturday

The UMES men’s basketball team squared off against the Savannah State Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The first half was dominated by the Hawks, but the second half finished the game off leading the a UMES win.

In the first half, UMES looks to shoot around the perimeter and get the ball to their bigs down low. It was only a matter of time before Savannah would not be able to defend the bigs down low due to the lack on size on the Tigers roster.

Down the stretch, the Hawks pulled away and finished off a 30 point victory making it their biggest MEAC win since 2001. A great accomplishment for the players, coaches, and the entire UMES basketball program.

Notable stats:

Devin Martin: 23 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal

Mike Myers Jr.: 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals

UMES looks to extend win streak to 3 games on Monday, hosting South Carolina State at 7:30 pm.
