Third drug conviction sends one to prison for 25 years

A Glen Bernie man will spend the next two and a half decades behind bars in Wicomico County, on drug charges. On Tuesday, 38-year-old Lavar Campbell was convicted of possessing cocaine and marijuana with the intent to distribute the drugs, by a jury.

The charges stem from a May 14th, 2014 traffic stop, where Campbell was a passenger. During the stop a K-9 unit responded, and found 3.6 grams of cocaine, 98 grams of marijuana packaged in 18 individually wrapped bags, and over $5,000 in cash.

Campbell, a subsequent offender, was then sentenced to 25 years of incarceration, without the possibility of parole. Cambell was previously convicted of possessing cocaine for distribution in 1998 and 2008.
