Sussex Tech Uses Big First Quarter To Coast Past Central

A battle between the Sussex squads Friday night fell in favor of Sussex Tech High School, as the Ravens used a 28-point first quarter to cruise to a 78-61 victory over Sussex Central. With the win, Tech improves to 8-7, while the Golden Knights move to 2-12.

The first quarter was all Sussex Tech, using the eight minutes to spread the score to 28-8, including a breakaway dunk by senior Aubre Allen. The Golden Knights wouldn’t go away, cutting the Raven lead to 10 at the half, after piecing together a 24-14 second quarter. But the first quarter was enough for Sussex Tech to hold on to the lead for the remainder of the game.

Senior Shi’Wan Sykes led all scorers with 25 to pace the Ravens offense.

Sussex Tech has some time off until its next game, taking the court on Thursday at Caesar Rodney for a 7:15 start. Central heads on the road as well for its next game, taking on Indian River on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.
