Sussex Central Tumbles At Home To St. Mark’s
The Sussex Central boy’s basketball team competed Monday night for its only home game for the next two weeks, falling to St. Mark’s, 55-32. With the loss, the Golden Knights move to 2-7 for the season.
Out to a slow start only scoring four points through the first quarter, the Golden Knights showed some life in the second, scoring seven points, to take just an 11-point deficit into the half. Five different Central players scored in the first half led by Jordan Brummell’s three points that he cashed in on in the second quarter.
Progressively scoring more each quarter with nine in the third, Central opened the fourth with six-consecutive points off two three-pointers before the Spartans forced several turnovers and pulled away for a deficit that the Golden Knights couldn’t get back.
St. Mark’s was led by Matt Williams’ game-high 17 points, while Chris Ludman chipped in for 13.
The Golden Knights hit the road for a four-game series, kicked off by a match up with Seaford on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
