SU Men’s Basketball Fall Late To St. Mary’s

The Salisbury University men’s basketball team had their three game win streak snapped Wednesday night when they fell to St. Mary’s 68-67. The loss drops the Sea Gulls to 11-7 on the year.

The Gulls would open the game on a 10-0 run sparked by Justin Witmer. The sophomore would get to the rack and finish for consecutive lay ups, while also stepping back and shooting from beyond the arc on his way to a team high 20 points. Salisbury would build a 13 point lead by halftime, but the Seahawks would fight back. By the 10 minute mark, the teams would find themselves in a tight ball game as St. Mary’s would slowly grab the lead. Wyatt Smith would try and shoot his team back into it as he had a huge and one finish at the rack on his way to also scoring 20 points.  The Seahawks would take a 1 point lead with seconds left as the Gulls raced the ball up the court looking for the go-ahead bucket. Smith would get a good look at the three, but it would be off the mark.

Salisbury returns to action this Saturday when they host Southern Virginia.
