Smyrna PD reports hate crime

Smyrna Police have released details on an alleged hate crime. Police say Daniel R. Lawrence, 30, of Townsend, Del., was arrested Wednesday in connection with a hate crime that occurred last month. Authorities say they were contacted by a 66-year-old male victim on December, 28, 2014 regarding a concerning voicemail filled with racial slurs.

Reports say the voicemail contained a detailed message with threatening statements including racial slurs. Lawrence was arrested and charged with a hate crime, terroristic threatening, and harrassment. He was released on $5,000.00 unsecured bail pending a future court appearance.
