Sexual predator behind bars in Worcester Co.

A Seaford man is now behind bars, thanks to an operation with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office aimed at taking down sexual predators.

According to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Carlos Octavio Mejia pled guilty to the sexual solicitation of a minor in Worcester County Circuit Court today.

Officials say Mejia was sentenced to 5 years in prison, with all but 6 months suspended. When he is released he will reportedly begin deportation proceedings because he is a citizen of Mexico.

Mejia was originally charged in August of 2014 as part of “Operation Worcester Safety Net”. Last Thursday, officials released the names of 21 other men charged with sexual abuse in the same operation.

Officials say Mejia was in the United States legally at the time of his arrest.
