Senator Coons responds to SOTU

Delaware Senator Chris Coons tells 47ABC he’s very pleased with President Obama’s state of the union address.

The Senator believes some saw the presidents speech as partisan, but he did not. He says there where moments in the speech where republicans cheered and democrats where less enthusiastic.

Senator Coons says he’s highly supporting President Obama’s initiatives for paid sick leave, raising minimum wage, and strengthening access to community college.

Senator Coons goes on, “The biggest priority of the President’s speech last night that excited me was the was a focus on growing the middle class, so that a broad range of Americans can benefit from our current strong recovery.”

Senator Coons says the President also has a trade strengthening agenda that was mentioned in Tuesday night’s speech.

He’s hoping that agenda will strengthen poultry exports on the Delmarva peninsula.
