Salisbury Women Fly By Wesley

A strong start was the key, guiding the No. 17 Salisbury University women’s basketball team to a 66-49 win in the Route 13 rivalry with Wesley.

The Sea Gulls continuously pushed the tempo in the first half, going on runs of 15-0 and 19-0 before opening up a 33 point lead with 4 minutes remaining in the first half, with junior forward Julia McLaughlin and senior Anna Hackett led the Gulls into the break with 11 and 12 points, respectively.

Wesley would get as close as 17 in the second half, but the lead seemed to be insurmountable, as Salisbury hung on for the win. With the win, Salisbury finished the first half of conference play with an unbeaten 9-0 record. This is the first time the feat has been reached by the program since the 2002-’03 season.
