Routine traffic stop leads to drug bust in Milford

A Maryland man is behind bars in Delaware after a routine traffic stop lead to a drug bust.

Police say Peter Demarie III was pulled over on Monday for a traffic violation in Milford.

Demarie was reportedly asked to move his car because the officer’s squad car was on railroad tracks. He allegedly sped forward onto private property and around a building before coming to a stop.

Police say as they approached Demarie’s car there was an odor of Marijuana. Reports say police were able to find 4.7 grams of marijuana in his car.

After a search of the Demarie’s path around the private property and building, police say they found a grocery bag containing some 700 of heroin and over 113 grams of cocaine.

Demaire was arrested on various drug charges including two counts of possesion with intent to distribute, and malicious mischief by motor vehicle. He is being held on bond.
