Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Department responded to a traffic collision involving a school bus with 24 passengers, on Granny Branch Road Thursday afternoon.

Responding authorities said a 1999 Hyundai station wagon, driven by a 51-year-old female, was going south on Granny Branch Road when she collided with a school bus going east on Flat Iron Square Road. Police say the driver of the station wagon had just come to a stop at a stop sign, and proceeded to cross the intersection, colliding with the QA 2010 Blue Bird school bus.

Reports say eight passengers were transported to Chester River Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. 12 of the bus passengers were transported to another bus, and four were picked up by parents at the location.

The female driver of the car and her 16-year-old daughter who was a passenger were flown from the scene to Shock Trauma in Baltimore as a precaution. Officers are still investigating at this time.
