Professors want more than free community college

Free community college could be one the way in the U.S.
During president Obama’s State of the Union address, he presented a $60 billion plan for two free years of community college.
It’s an idea that surely excites students who don’t want to flip the bill for school. However, some university professors think there are other issues that should be addressed before hand.
Dr. Sandra Stotsky, a professor at the University of Arkansas says, “The real issue is how to make sure students are able to do college level reading and in some way connect free tuition to being able to read at a college level.”
Dr. Stotsky tells 47ABC, the average college freshman reads at a seventh grade level and believes literacy should be government’s primary focus on education.
President Obama has stated that keeping grades up would be a requirement of the proposed free program.
