Pocomoke Hands Bennett First Home Loss Of Season

The Pocomoke High School boy’s basketball team took a road trip to Salisbury Tuesday night to hand James M. Bennett its first home loss of the season with a strong second half to win, 86-79. The Warriors improve to 11-1 for the season, while the Clippers move to 6-6.

A back-and-forth battle through the entirety of the game, Bennett took a 43-39 lead into the half. But, Pocomoke came alive in the second half taking the late lead. Down four with a 1:30 remaining in regulation, Bennett’s Jorden Duffy received the ball at the top of the key for a quick pullup three-pointer to get within one, but the Warriors would get a transition layup by Dajour Mills and several good free throws to seal up the victory.

Duffy led all scorers with 34 points for the night, while Raymir Smith finished with 21 points to pace Pocomoke.

The Warriors head back home for a game on Thursday against Mardela, while the Clippers remain at home for a match up against Crisfield. Both games are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
