One injured in afternoon shooting in Dover

Police near Dover are investigating reports of a shooting. Delaware State Police say around 12:15 PM on Thursday, Troopers responded to the gas station parking lot of Redner’s Market on Salt Creek Avenue, for an apparent shooting.

Once on scene, Troopers and Emergency Medical Services found a 44-year-old man, with gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Detectives say their investigation found that the shooting actually happened a few minutes earlier in the parking lot of China Kitchen on North DuPont Highway, in Dover. The victim then apparently drove himself to Redner’s Market where 9-1-1 was called.

The suspect is reportedly described as a man standing 5′ 10″ – 6′ tall, with a thin build, last seen wearing a black jacket and jean, possibly armed with a handgun.
