Local shoppers upset over store departures

Tanicka white is an avid shopper at It’s Fashion Metro.
Tanicka White, a shopper at It’s Fashion Metro says, “It’s trendy, its new, we don’t have many stores in this area, mostly everything is the same wherever you go.”
It was once one of a handful of options in the Salisbury-Fruitland area for shoppers like Tanicka, who wears what many call affordable urban attire.
However, it could soon be the only option. Just a few months ago the Centre at Salisbury closed down Wet Seal, and now Deb is going out of business.
Customers visibly upset, have been venting their thoughts on social media.
Alishe Thomas, another shopper at It’s Fashion Metro says, “Where do we get cheap clothes and cheap shoes.”
At It’s Fashion Metro affordability is a major factor. They want all of their shoppers at every size, to be fashionable, while also not being put out of their price range.
The store carries women’s sizes up to 24 and has a 30-day layaway program. These features set them apart from competitor Charlotte Rouse, which carries similar styles, but higher price tags.
It’s Fashion Metro’s prices start at $4.99. And shoppers fear that if more stores follow suit with Deb and Wet Seal, they’ll be out of luck.
Thomas goes on, “We’ll just have to stick to online shopping, and paying shipping and things like that, not getting to try on clothes first.”
However, It’s Fashion Metro’s store manager says they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, so there will at least be one place for these ladies to shop.
