Law enforcement reminds football enthusiasts that ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk’

Law enforcement agencies around Delmarva are reminding residents to play it safe on Super Bowl Sunday, and have a designated driver.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, along with law enforcement officials nationwide, are asking fans to choose a side, before the game, drinking or driving. The new ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk’ campaign is aimed to have people make plans ahead of Sunday’s game, and find or be a sober driver.
Pocomoke Police Chief Kelvin D. Sewell says “Drunk driving is completely preventable. All it takes is a little planning. We want fans to remember that it’s a choice. Drink or drive-but never do both.”
Ocean City Police Chief Ross Buzzuro, says “The driver is ultimately responsible for their own safety. If citizens choose to drink alcohol, we strongly recommend that they have a designated driver, call a cab or catch a city bus.”
According to the NHTSA, in 2012 alcohol-related crashes in the United States, made up for 31% of all crash deaths in the nation. So Officials are asking football lovers to be a fan, don’t drink and drive.
The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will face off in the National Football League’s XLIX Super Bowl, on Sunday, February 1st, at 6:30 PM.
